WordPress introduced the ability to import Live Journal posts last week. Which is cool, since I'm considering bailing on Live Journal at some point, but bad, since there's no way in WordPress to export your posts anywhere - even to another WordPress journal, should one ever decide to take it off the WP grid and onto one's own domain (I'm considering a workaround - details once I decide to update my website).
Anyway, thought I'd try out the function, and exported the month of Oct 2005 from Live Journal into this Journal.
Everything worked out just fine, except for a couple of things:
1. My post tags didn't translate into categories - everything was just recategorized as "Miscellaneous"
2. Even more troubling, the security levels on many of my LJ entries did not translate into WP AT ALL. I had to go through and password protect a few of them. Some of them were private, and I'd probably go and make them private again at some point. But for right now, they're just password protected. I also took out posts that were specificallly LJ related.
Hmmm…I'll go try another month and see what happens…
February…that was QUITE the month for me. I was little mouthy then. Forgive me.
Oh dear God…February not only was a busy month, it was QUITE emotional for me as well. Note the amount of posts I had to protect. I had QUITE a few issues going on that I could only tell a few people about. And all that effort just to keep aspects of my once happy go lucky public life a little less so. Especially after I swore I'd never discuss interpersonal work issues in a public blog ever again. Such a friggin' pain!
Still, it's nice to go over a few of those mistakes I made, just as a reminder not to do them again.
P.S. About those "protected" posts, to someone in mind, feel free to try to figure out the passwords to them. I'd suggest trying to spell something backwards to get into them. If that doesn't work, well, the post wasn't about you! :p

I switched from Blogger to WordPress. I couldn’t import any of my blogger entries because they were from the “upgraded” blogger–I had to copy and paste them MANUALLY. What a pain in the rear end.
