Speaking of Ms. Thom, however…
I was pretty certain this song would never be a hit in the US. Thom’s a wonderful singer, but, personal feelings about the song aside, the thing’s too sparcely produced, and the kids here wouldn’t get any of the frankly Anglo-centric cultural references in the lyrics (I was informed that one of the lines refs Tony Blair’s ability to play guitar - you think your average American Angels and Airwaves fan even cares about that?).
Anyway, I heard the damn thing piped into my local Starbucks this afternoon.
