You all know that the old “Top of the Pops” website has been converted into a blog, right?
This does not do my Anglophile music-lovin’ heart any good.
I’m still waiting for that site to take off. The lack of comments provided by readers is of great concern to me.
Because I still like the content, and it would be a shame for this thing to not work. Even though it is a now a - yawn - blog.
Because, there are too many other music sites like this around. And, really, who gives a rip about Britney’s hootch view?
Well, I’m sure many of you do, but…
As far as I’m concerned, that infamous pic is about as last week as her relationship Paris Hilton.
Yawn…
BTW, check out the viperfest happening over at this blog as a result of Perez Hilton getting sued. I personally find it laughable that a bunch of opportunistic, publicity-seeking, privacy-invading, gossip-mongering, money-grubbing, scumbag photogs are chomping at the bit to take down an opportunistic, publicity-seeking, privacy-invading, gossip-mongering, money-grubbing, scumbag BLOGGER who turned the tables on their invasive, ill-gotten content.
Go team…

So, the blog’s been up for three months now…any better?
Genuinely value your input here, seeing as you were a TOTP Online fan.
Cheers

Hey Fraser,
Thanks for stopping by. I had almost forgotten about this little entry, however, I’m quite honored that you found it.
When I read that the TOTP site was going to be shut down and converted into a blog, I was, frankly, a little puzzled. TOTP was as big and rambunctious as I presumed the show to be (BBC America is on subscription basis here in the States; therefore I missed whatever TOTP episodes were broadcast in my neighborhood). To convert it into a blog, IMHO, had kinda taken it down a little, class-wise. After all, anyone can put together a blog. Certainly, a government-funded organization such as the BBC could do better?
With all that said…
That was my opinion three months ago. You and your crew have come along way since then. I miss all the show clips, as that was the only way I could get to hear new music, but since there’s no show, the YouTube raidings will have to do (and kudos to you for not turning those young kids in for posting clips of your old show onling). I’m especially impressed with the biting music reviews. The fact that you were able to uniformally piss off a bunch of pre-teen Evanescence fans is no mean feat, indeed (I beg to differ on the recent Joss Stone review, however, but whatever…).
My only kvetch is that the blog design is kinda blah. I realize not every pop-culture-oriented blog has to be like Pop Justice, but it frankly could use some spicing up. I’m sure you are all are working dillgently on that.
Live long and prosper,
Helen
