I’m feeling kinda sick this morning.
No, it’s not the flu that’s currently going around.
Hubster and I went out last night to his current firm’s Christmas party at one of the big hotel resorts in downtown Reno. Oldtimers will recall me getting bitchy last year when the peeps at the his old work site would, by and large, not give any cordial credence to my man and his presence at their Christmas party.
Since then, Hubster has switched jobs, and, happily, he is given accordance and respect by his current co-workers. As well as their significant others. Catered food was superb. Shared table company was wonderful. Alcoholic drinks were NOT free, but it didn’t stop yours truly downing a few. Fortunately, Hubster and I left before I could make a complete ass of myself. A huge prize was given away, but, despite got getting it, Hubster still walked away with a nice enough consolation amount tomake his extensive raffle ticket purchase worthwhile.
All that booze in my system snapped me awake during the night to feel some knot in the back of the right side of my head. Actually, this “knot” (more like the feeling that someone whacked me in that place) started throbbing about 10ish Friday morning. It went on and off throughout the day, but since it was mostly off, I didn’t pay it any mind.
Last night, I did. The throbbing just kept whacking away with more frequency on my lower right skull. Not even a couple of ibuprofen could quell it.
It seems to be fine now, but I’m not sure what’s going on here. If it doesn’t subside by tomorrow afternoon, I’m seeing the doctor.
For the first time in many years, I actually have some spare change in my pocket that’s not being eaten up by credit card credit debt. It’d really suck if I have to celebrate my debt-free upcoming birthday by finding out that I’ve got brain tumor, aneurysm, et. al.
I’m sure I’m being a neurotic hypochondriac and it’s probably just nothing. Still, you never know…
Anyway…
All the other music bloggers are putting up their Top 10s of obscure bands and unknown tunage that only they and their fanatical following would find fantastic (well, some of us others would too, actually). I, however, am going to base my findings on what I listened to most last year, according to my audioscrobbler trackings on Last.FM. Then, you all can make up your own mind. After all, the rest of the world apparently has. Why not put in my two cents?
So, up on yousendit for 7 days is my countdown of the Top 10 tunes of 2006. Starting with…
10
Muse – Starlight - The Brits had this song on their charts for a while. It’s now our turn. Let’s Top 10 this thing, peeps!
9
Tilly and the Wall – Sing Songs Along - Mamas and Papas reborn! With tap dancing and everything.
8
Arab Strap – Dream Sequence - I’d have to say this was probably the most tuneful tune they ever put out. Heave…sigh…
7
Editors – Munich - Title made no sense, but the song rocked my world earlier this year.
6
RDB feat. Elephant Man – Ishq Naag - Reggaeton Mix - Best…reggaeton….bhangra…remix…evah! (P.S. For those who came here due to a mistype in their Google search, this is RDB the Indian/British bhangra-cum-hip-hop group, NOT RBD, the Mexican reality show-based teen band)
5
Muse – Take A Bow - Mr. Bellamy gives GWB too much credit: “Cast a spell on the country you run”? Puleeeeeze! Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz were probably bigger architects of the Iraqi invasion than dummy Dubya. But I digress…
4
Arab Strap – There Is No Ending - I’d have to say this was probably the most upbeat tune they ever put out. Heave…sigh…
3
Muse – Knights of Cydonia - I included the live version of this tune, recorded back in May at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend festival in Dundee, Scotland
2
Marykate O’Neil – Things Are Too Good (They’re Bound To Go Bad) - Once, and forever, my theme song
1
Arab Strap – Stink -A.S. RIP. Heave…sigh…
And, as per usual, for the Johnny Come Latelies, here’s the IMix:
Wish me a happy birthday…I gotta go lie down for a while…

Stumble It!
