Sunday Morning Oggcast, May 6, 2007 - Back from a haitus…

Posted by: bigstarlet on: May 6, 2007

That’s right, peeps. I’m here to provide you with that Sunday Morning ogg pleasure that you’ve been missing for so long. I’ve forgotten where I’ve gotten most of these (I know I got at least a couple of them from Idolator), so rather than have me babble on, let’s get right into it.

Up on EZ Archive for 7 days is the following:

1. Altered Images: Happy Birthday - This is the 12 inch mix. I was such a huge fan of their first album back in the day. I always use this to get my 80’s parties started right.

2. Maroon5: Makes Me Wonder - These guys got a lot of crap initially for trying to draw the fine line between being a band of serious musicians, and being a serious boyband (LOL!!). Sexist videos not withstanding, I thought they were alright. This song is making me hold out hope for a glorious future from them.

3. Mark Ronson (feat. Amy Winehouse) - Valerie: Mr. Ronson is currently making the rounds on the British charts with his electroshock cover of the old Smiths tune “Stop Me If You Think That You’ve Heard This One Before”. I’m digging his Zutons’ cover featuring everyone’s favorite drunken-tattooed-love-child-cum-soul-goddess MUCH more.

4. Charlotte Gainsbourg: Set Yourself on Fire - Ms. Gainsbourg, right now, is most famous here in the US for being the daughter of Serge Gainsbourg, a French entertainer of legendary proportions throughout much of the rest of the world, but is best known here for coming on to Whitney Houston on a French TV show back in the mid-80’s.

All that said, Ms. Gainsbourg thankfully seems to have inherited her dad’s talent, and not his, er, proclivities…

5. Mika: Lollipop - I like Mika. I like Mika a lot. He’s fun. He’s campy. I wish I was at Coachella this year so I could see if he was REALLY gay or not (I read somewhere (article has been apparently taken offline - grrrrrrr) that he’s gotten death threats for not revealing his sexuality. I know, who cares, but there’s always some idiot who does…)

6. The Thrushes - Heartbeats: The Jesus and Mary Chain have returned! No wait…

7. MItch Easter - I Want A New Scene: I really loved Let’s Active back in the 80’s. Good to see him return.

Here’s a preview if you can’t bother with an ogg download:

Here’s an Amazon.com list for you if you’d like to purchase.

Ooooh, one more thing: Blogging buddy Peggy’s daughter appeared on TV the other day. Click here for further details.
