So…

We’ve been back for a week. I’ve got a lot to say, but I don’t want to bore you with too many details, so here’s a list:
- Ireland was, as the locals say there, grand.
- Schoolkids in uniforms are the most polite I have ever encountered.
- Don’t…eat…the…pub food (why in a bit)
- Saw a bunch of seaside towns, the book of Kells, and Temple Bar. After that…
- My husband came down with food poisoning, as a result of either a sandwich or some chicken strips he had at a Galway pub on 5/11. It didn’t hit for two days, so we initially thought he caught the flu. MISTAKE!!!!
- As a result, our trip pretty much ended before we left. On checkout day, we left the hotel staff a massive tip in our room, because we were such (literal) pains in the asses. They were so kind!
- At least the view from our hotel room was nice.
- There are not a lot of transport options in Ireland, which shocked me. On the other hand, this country had other priorities until recently. There IS an awful lot of building going on.
- As friendly as Dubliners are purported to be, folks are a LOT friendlier outside of the city. We had fun there, anyway.
- Despite the hubster’s sickness (he even threw up waiting to get on the plane), we got home without a hitch, BARTed to his mom’s place, drove home the next day, and took him to ER. By that time, he was so dehydrated, that his kidneys were starting to fail, so he was put in hospital for two days. Nice. And even the staff there initially thought he had a bug.
- Two days after he got out, the hubster got a call from the Washoe Health Department, hellbent on shutting down some local eatery. He had to convince him that it didn’t happen here.
- I’m glad to be back, but I’ll be happy to go again.
- Oh, and while I was out, I got tagged for a meme. I’ll be posting my response later this weekend.
