It’s the Google vs. Facebook smackdown at the Supernova conference in - guess where - San Francisco!!!
We have a winner, no more calls, please.
Apparently Google is developing a new app, Google Connect, that, for all intensive purposes, turns regular websites into social networking hives, where ALL your friends from whatever online hell they currently exist in can come and gather.
Except if they’re from facebook.
Facebook has disabled Google Connect’s ability for users to access their Facebook login’s, telling Google developers, “You didn’t use proper code for this”. Google, of course, is saying “Oh yes we did, beyotch!”
I can’t say that I blame Facebook - it did start out as a private social site for Harvard students. Even now, by default (and LONG before Myspace thought of it), you can’t see a person’s full profile unless THEY decide you can. Lord knows, not everyone feels the need to let it out on their social networking space.
On the other hand, Google Connect boasts bringing traffic. If I can connect all my peeps into one area where I can talk to them all, why the hell not?
Now, does Google Connect work with Myspace?
